No cure for AIDS in sight

A company on Long Island claimed it had discovered a gene therapy that can cure HIV infection in chronically infected AIDS patients. They published their story in the most prestigious scientific journals. The treatment had one weakness that made it unsuitable as an antiviral treatment or lifetime cure.  In fact the authors of their report stated they think it will cause HIV infections in uninfected partners of cured AIDS victims.

Close, but no cigar. 

There are ways of fixing the problem with their gene therapy.

Does Vulvox have a cure for the HIV virus? No.  We'd be working on it if we get the money for it.
